The Smiths Is Dead는 1980년대 영국의 얼터너티브 록 밴드인 The Smiths에 대한 헌정 앨범으로, 1996년에 1986년 발매된 The Queen Is Dead의 10주년을 기념하여 발매되었으며, 같은 트랙이 같은 순서로 수록되어 있다. 프랑스 문화 잡지 Les Inrockuptibles에서 편집했다. 이 앨범은 브릿팝 시대의 절정기에 발매되었으며 Supergrass, Divine Comedy, Boo Radleys와 같은 인기 있는 브릿팝 아티스트의 커버를 포함하고 있다. 커버는 소설 A Kestrel for a Knave을 원작으로 하는 1969년 켄로치(Ken Loach)¹ 감독의 영화 Kes²에 나오는 데이비드 브래들리(David Bradley)다.
